Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 4: A Bloody Good Time with Room for Improvement

WatchListHQSep 4, 2025
The Z-O-M-B-I-E-S franchise has been a staple of family-friendly entertainment, offering a unique blend of music, adventure, and supernatural romance. The latest installment, Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 4: Dawn of the Vampires, promises to deliver more of the same lighthearted fun, with a new monster rivalry taking center stage. For the most part, the film succeeds in its mission to entertain, with a talented cast, catchy musical numbers, and a story that explores themes of unity and acceptance. The movie's 89-minute runtime is well-utilized, with a pace that rarely falters and keeps the viewer engaged from start to finish.

One of the standout aspects of Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 4 is its cast, which returns with the same chemistry and charm that made the previous films so enjoyable. Zed and Addison, played by Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly, are once again at the forefront of the story, and their relationship remains a highlight of the film. The addition of new characters, particularly the Daywalkers and Vampires, adds some fresh blood to the mix, and their respective leaders, Nova and Victor, make for compelling adversaries. The musical numbers, which have always been a hallmark of the franchise, are catchy and well-choreographed, with a few standout tracks that are sure to get stuck in viewers' heads. With a TMDB rating of 6.927/10, it's clear that audiences have been enjoying the film, and its family-friendly genres of music, adventure, romance, comedy, and family make it a great option for viewers of all ages.

Despite its many strengths, Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 4 is not without its flaws. The story, while engaging, feels somewhat predictable, and the themes of unity and acceptance, while well-intentioned, are not particularly nuanced or subtle. The film's villain, a greater threat that endangers both the Daywalkers and Vampires, feels somewhat underdeveloped, and the resolution of the conflict is a bit too convenient. Additionally, some viewers may find the film's tone to be a bit too lighthearted, given the supernatural subject matter. However, it's worth noting that the film's lighthearted tone is also one of its strengths, making it a great option for families and younger viewers who may not be ready for more mature themes. Overall, Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 4: Dawn of the Vampires is a fun, family-friendly film that is sure to delight fans of the franchise. While it may not be perfect, its strengths outweigh its weaknesses, making it a worthwhile watch for viewers of all ages.
